Family Day

All of Lucas's family went to his grandparents today.  It was chaotic but fun.

Great Grandparents

Today we trekked up to Frankenmuth and brought lunch from Zender's back to Lucas's grandparents.  It was delicious.  It was great to catch up with them and to introduce them to David. 

The Art Institute of Chicago

Willis, Bean, and the Zoo

Busy tourist day in Chicago.  Went up the Willis Tower.  It was very cloudy but thankfully we were patient enough to wait out the clouds, it cleared up and we were able to have some great views.  Afterwards we headed to the Bean and took the obligatory reflection photos.  Had a late lunch with Kelly.  It was great to see her and catch up.  Went to Lincoln Park Zoo to finish up the day.  It was raining but we still had a great time.  A lion came right up to David and stared at him.  It was pretty neat.

 

Plane Ride and Wisconsin

The start of our Wisconsin/Michigan trip.

David did good on his first plane trip.  Probably slept a total of 40mins out of 2hrs but he was pretty happy and just wanted to be held and played with.  We landed, picked up the rental, and drove the 2hrs to see Lucas's best friend Dave and his family.  The car ride was worse than the plane but we all survived.  

We had a good weekend with the Lindesmith's.  Did some hiking, football watching, and lots of eating.  

Dress Rehearsel

We are going to Lucas's cousin's wedding next week and of course David got an adorable outfit for the event.  I put him in it today to make sure it all fit.  It turned out to be the most adorable thing I have ever seen.  My adorable baby in a bow tie, try and beat that!

Peach Juice

David's been a little backed up lately so we tried giving him some peach juice (water with pureed peach in it) to try to help him out.  His reaction is pretty funny and I think he kinda liked it.

6 Months!

Happy 6 months David!  I can't believe it's already been half a year. 

Exciting things that have happened:  smiles that light up his whole face, sitting attempts, long stretches of sleeping, lots of laughing, talking, and food to name a few.

It's so exciting to see him become a person and get a personality. He is definitely a social baby who adores attention and will give big smiles to anyone who gives him some.  David is starting to sit!  He's been really trying to do it by himself and it will be nice soon to not have to prop him anymore.  Food = meh according to David.  We have tried giving him avocado and he acted very offended.  He reaches for our food but then we try to give him some and no absolutely not.  It's something that we will have to work on more soon.

Happy Birthday London

We went and celebrated London's 3rd birthday today.  Laurel did a great job at the party.  The highlight was definitely watching the Olaf pinata catch on fire about a group of kids fighting over candy.  Ah memories.

Yay fror Grandparents

Lucas went to Buenos Aries for the week and my parents were nice enough to drive back and spend the week with David and I.  It was a big week.  We even drove up to Ft Worth for a night.  David got in lots of flying and sitting practice with Poppa.

Mountain of Clothes

Emily, a sweet church member, offered to let me come over and go through her boys old clothes to see if I wanted anything.  I got a ton!  Everything from 6 months to 3 years!  Basically David has his wardrobe for the next 3 years, unless things are really cute :)  Here is the pile when we were about half way done.

Date!

Lucas leaves for Buenos Aries tomorrow so my parents came in to keep me and David company.  They were nice enough to babysit and let us go on a date.  We went to Top Golf where I discovered I am bad at golf.  I can hit the ball but it just doesn't go far.  It was fun to do something other than go to a movie.  After we went to a diner where I had an ok omelet and Lucas had a giant burger.  Then we raced home to put David to bed who refused to go to bed until almost 9.

David and I went to visit Katie and Anna today.  It's fun seeing the differences in them and watching them play. 

Blowing Raspberries

David has discovered he can blow raspberries. He is very excited about it and does it all the time.  He will even wake up doing it.

1st Playgroup Hosts

David and I hosted our first playgroup today.  We had Ashley and Braley, Toni and Zoey and Tatum, and Brenda and Eliza over.  I even made muffins and David put on his bow tie for his ladies.  It was nice to have everyone over and talk.  Although, Ashley and Toni spent most of the morning running after the girls.

Avocado

At David's 4 month checkup the doctor said we could start foods.  He seemed a little young to me yet so we decided to wait until at least 5 months.  We also decided that instead of cereal as the doctor suggested, we would do vegetables as the first food.  There is some belief that children will like vegetables later on if that's what you start with.  Figured it couldn't hurt.

So today, David got his first real food, avocado.  He seemed more interested in playing with it then actually eating it but some of it got in his mouth.    

3rd Times the Charm

Today we celebrated my birthday again for the 3rd time with our friends the Barcenas and Zeglins.  Anna Zeglin was born a day before David so it's fun to see their differences when they are together.  Jenny is pregnant with David's newest girlfriend Riley who will be making an appearance in January.

They bought wine, homemade bread, and dessert.  It was all delicious!

Peeing Bather

For having a boy, Lucas and I have been very lucky and have only been peed on a few times by David.  Yesterday, however, Lucas was not so lucky.  He had just placed David in the bath when the stream started.  Not a trickle, a stream.  I jumped back.  Lucas got sprayed and held it back with his hand until it stopped.  David meanwhile was just lounging perfectly happy in his bath sucking his thumb.  It was hilarious.  Lucas did not find it funny and went to shower, leaving me to bathe David by myself.  

Good Sleeper

David is such a good baby.  On top of normally being in a good mood, he did amazing last night!  I feed him but he wasn't sleepy so we walked him around for a bit and then put him in the pack n play (where he sleeps) and he put himself to bed!  Didn't cry or make a peep for 11 hours!  That's right, he slept 8-7 straight last night!

Granted I know that this will probably be a fluke or not last very long but I'm enjoying it while it happens :)

Big Boy Stroller

Today we graduated David to his big boy stroller seat.  When we go to Chicago in a few weeks, we want to be able to use it, so we are starting to get him used to it.  So far he is not a big fan.  I think he misses being in his carseat during stroller rides.  He also looks so small!

Ashley invited us over for dinner tonight.  When we got there we found out it was more of a birthday celebration and she had invited the Coopers and Kayte.  It was so sweet of Ashley to do that and to take care of all the details.  She even made delicious brownies and had ice cream and strawberries to go with it.  The champagne was delicious and it was a great night.

Halloween Craft

Today at playgroup, we made Halloween memory art.  We painted canvas and the kids feet and made an imprint.  I made David's feet into ghosts.  It turned out really cute and is hanging in our house!
