Hilliard Grandparents Visit

It's been nice having Lucas's parents here. Before David was born, Lucas and I both wished we lived by our parents so David would be able to know them. We have been lucky with both sets of grandparents being able to visit and see him.

David has been enjoying all the extra attention he's been getting.  He's enjoying the singing by Grandma and the huming by Grandpa.

We went and had hibachi with Lucas for lunch, naps in the afternoon, fajitas for dinner, then topped it off with pool time. David was the most active I've ever seen him in the pool. He was splashing and bobbing around.

Happy Birthday Lucas

Happy birthday to an amazing husband, father, pug daddy, and friend. David, Peanut, and I are lucky to have you.

Today is Lucas's birthday. David and I went and met him for Thai food for lunch. By the time we got back Lucas's parents had arrived. They are on their way back to Florida from Tom's temporary pastorship in Kearney, Nebraska.  Lucas got home early and we visited before having brats for dinner. Lucas's parents bought small fried pies for dessert so we split 3 of them.  We ended the evening with beer and games.

Exersaucer

I saw an exersaucer on the show 19 Kids and Counting and decided David should have one. Did some online looking and discovered that it would be at least $100 for the cheapest one. Clearly we weren't going to pay that.

When Nikki was here I dragged her to a children's resale shop and they had one! For only $30!  Granted it was filthy, had a rip, and was missing some items but overall it was in good shape and the main toys still worked. Bought it home and 1/2 a thing of Clorox wipes, some sewing, and washing later David was put in it. He's still a little young but I think he liked it and I liked saving at least $70.

Cute photo from today :)

Double the Size

David July 7 = 14lbs 1 oz
David July 26 = 15lbs 5.5oz

David has officially doubled his birth weight of 7lbs 8oz! He's growing so much.

Saturday Brunch Bunch

We had friends come over for a brunch date today. The Coopers and McAuleys both have daughters born within 2 months of each other who are almost three. It was time for them to meet.  It's funny how before kids we would have meet for dinner and drinks probably ending around 1am. Nowadays we have brunch that starts at 930am and ends at noon so there can be naps. Oh how times have changed.

Nothing Day and Postcard

Today was a day full of plans that turned into nothing. We went to a cafe for a moms group meet up where 7 other moms where supposed to show up. Guess showed up. Just us!  One mom did come in for 3 mins to say her dog and kid were sick so she couldn't stay. But it ended to being ok. After everything that happened this week, I think David needed a calm day.

Around 2, we were sitting around so I decided to go run some errands. Packed up David and the car and went out.  10mins later traffic on 45 is stopped bad it is pouring down rain. Needless to say we turned around and came home.

David received his first postcard today from the Hilliard Grandparents.  They are visiting the national parks.

After dinner we took David to the pool again. He liked it much better this time. He was splashing and kicking and likes to be dragged around like he's swimming.

Hello CECO

David and I had lunch with a former coworker Emily today. After lunch we went to CECO to visit. Everyone loved David and kept saying how perfect he is. He was really good meeting everyone and only cried once when someone said that they wanted to eat him up.

Dog Show

Today was free admission and parking at the dog show. David and I went. It was fun to get out of the house and do something different. Got to see some friends with Pughearts rescue and show David a lot of different breeds.

Yummy toy

Comfy David?

House Repair Saga

The saga of house repairs continues. Tomorrow the repair people include doorbell, cable box, and yet again the ac. Our house is going to be great if we can ever get the problems worked out!

After church today we had a potluck to welcome the new teachers. It was during David's nap time but he didn't get one in due to it being too noisy and bright. He did get about an hour in later after being walked around in the carrier. I think it's funny that the carrier makes him sleepy.

Amusing pacifier.

Party and Pool

Zoey Wood turned 4 today and we went to her birthday party. It was David's first birthday party to go to.  He was held by lots of people. After eating he turned into a big flirt and was talking to everyone.

Happy birthday Zoey!

Partied hard

We decided to take him to the pool this evening. He had his feet in it over Memorial Day weekend but this time he really went in. His reaction was indifference although he did like pool flying aka hold him by his arms and drag him around. We are going to try and take him once a week.

Church Playgroup

David and I went to a nearby park today to meet up with moms and kids from our church. It's nice to get to know them better especially since most of the kids will go to school with David.

For dinner we went with the Dawsons to a Mediterranean restaurant. Food was good, service was not. David did well even though I had to feed him for about 15 mins during the meal.

Napping

Today I believe I've discovered how to make David nap. The trick is that at his noon feeding you take away the distractions. Close the blinds so he can't see out of the window, turn the tv down or off. It's worked the past two days and it's been nice for me. I'm able to eat and get some cleaning done.

Chill Day

Had a pretty chill day today. Figured out how to do laundry while David is in the carrier. Most excited news: Nikki is coming to visit soon!

"Lake" was calm during the morning walk.

Both of my babies needed love today.

Housewife

Really felt like a housewife today.  It was weird and good at the same time.  David and I went to a baby play date with the moms group I joined. It was scary to go to some random person house and hang out with strangers but I'm glad I went. We will be doing more with them in the future. After we went grocery shopping since he was napping.  At home I was able to unload dishwasher, put groceries away, pick up house, and get dinner started before Lucas got home. Basically felt like I deserved a standing ovation. It helped that David has been napping more so he doesn't constantly want me holding him.

In the evening our friends Jenny and Scott, Katie, and their daughter Anna came over. Anna was born the day before David. It's fun to get them together and see the differences and similarities.

Nap time

Trying out the bumbo seat for the first time! He did well and we will start using it more for head control.

Today

The bid says it all.

Peanut discovered a slug on our morning walk.

Feel asleep in the carrier.

3 months!

I can't believe it's been 3 months already. In the last month David has slept 8hrs straight twice, taken his first vacation to Florida, drools constantly, and talks a lot. He's starting to get a personality and develop distinct facial features along with eyebrows!  He has my eyes and nose but other than that we don't know who he looks like.

Today

The only way David does carriers is if he faces front. I wore him like this for almost an hour.

David is such a happy baby most of the time.  He has the cutest smile!

David is Amazing

David did amazing in Florida. He meet a lot of people, got passed around, and saw a lot of new places and things. He was so good even though he did want me or Lucas a few times.

For the drive back we decided to go through the night. Terrible for us but probably the best for David. He was amazing again. It was about a 13-14 hour trip and he only woke up twice to eat and then went back to sleep.
